Colin and Shaun met in 2004 and soon started a local support group called “FTM Sonoma County”. The first meeting was attended by four people – including the two founders!
Since that time, the group has grown tremendously. In addition to support group meetings, we hold social gatherings, work for equitable health care coverage, advocate for members, participate in community activities and provider speakers and trainers for other organizations.
FTM Sonoma County includes people anywhere on the transmasculine continuum (or questioning). According to our 2008 survey (PDF), transmasculine members identify as FTM, transman, boy, man, male, transgender, genderqueer, questioning, bigender and/or androgynous.
We come from all walks of life, races and ethnicities, political leanings, career paths, backgrounds, and religious perspectives. We range in age from 18 to 65+ years old and represent a broad spectrum of sexual orientations: straight, gay, bisexual, queer and/or questioning.
